PROCEDURES

1.                   Aids for certification must be coordinated with the Senior Evaluator.

2.                  Aids must be legally obtained.

3.                  Aids provided must be human blood, bones, and/or soft tissue.

4.                  Size or amount of aids must be acceptable to evaluator and capable of producing four (4) separate hides.

5.                  An animal distracter must also be provided.  This will be coordinated with the evaluator.  The distracter will be placed on the surface at the discretion of the evaluator.

6.                  Search area must consist of two (2), approximately one (1) acre sites.  A thirty (30) minute time limit will be applied to each site.  One or both sites must have water (pond, creek, etc.), and one or both sites must have trees and/or structure to provide a high hide.

7.                  The water search will be conducted by boat or shoreline search at the evaluators discretion.

 

 REQUIREMENTS

1.         Handler must deploy K-9 in a safe and effective manner.   

2.         Four (4) hides will be placed at the evaluator’s discretion.  Hides will be placed as follows.  A concealed submerged hide, minimum of six (6) inches, maximum twenty-four (24) inches.  A buried hide, minimum of six (6) inches, maximum eighteen (18) inches.  A concealed surface hide.  A concealed high hide, minimum six (6) foot, maximum eight (8) foot.

3.        Two (2) false holes will also be dug during the same time the buried hide is placed.

4.           The K-9 must locate all four (4) hides.  

5.           Handler must recognize alert and advise location of find.  

6.           A false alert, unable to control K-9, or no find will result in a failed test.
